I really wish more big companies did this... Invest in your People with Internal Conferences!

A while back I was approached to help organise a two-day conference for UBS. The idea was to create something that integrated internal speakers with the great-and-good of external speakers and I was a little nervous at first at taking the challenge on! As soon as I knew I was working with Skills Matter though, my worries disappeared!

The good news is that, from what I can tell, the event that was held last week was a fantastic success. I'm sure time will tell, but certainly as an outside observer I loved the enthusiasm I saw from the employees of UBS for what was a great conference with some incredibly interesting talks. Highlights for me were Greg Young because, you know, it's Greg, along with Russel Winder, Dave Syer, Rob Harrop, all the UBS talks ... ok, everyone who participated was really fantastic and although I'm a pretty positive person, I promise I'm being critical here!

I think the whole thing can be summed up nicely with my quote from the event:

“UBS should be utterly applauded for arranging this amazing mini-conference that really represents a tangible investment in their people in |T. I was really honoured to play the part of compère and keynote speaker, hopefully giving some food for thought that will translate back into benefits for the bank also. An amazing day and a supreme effort from Ian Bond and Natalie Gray and their teams at UBS and Skills Matter respectively” - Russ Miles

Also a huge thanks to Portia Tung for being the highly-effective speaker and speaker-rounder-upper for the event! My daughter will love the Frozen chocs when I return this weekend!

Here's my photos from this great event:
