This week I've been delivering the excellent Pivotal Enterprise Integration with Spring course and I took the slightly ill-advised option of riding the bike here to Skills Matter in Central London. I say ill-advised, it was only the wind and rain on Monday that put my love of riding to the test really!
While parking up on Monday, and gradually drying out, I noticed we've got a few fellow bikers here in Skills Matter and so I joked with the guys that maybe we should start a Biker Club, a Charter perhaps... for geeks and tech-heads who are also two-wheeled, petrol-heads... and so here I am on Thursday putting it out there to see who might be interested.
I'm already a member of the Harley Owners Group, Sussex Chapter, and expect to have a lot of fun with that group in 2015. However I thought it might be fun to start a new Charter around bikers in technology, if there's enough interest. We could organise rides to hackathons, rides to evening events like talks and conferences maybe, whatever really... I have no idea where this might go, but nothing ventured...
So, who's interested? Any fellow biker software folks out there want to be a founding member of the "Sons (and Daughters) of Alimony" (yes, the name can be changed, but it made me giggle at the time)? Who's in? If there's enough interest I'll kick off a meetup group and get a 'patch' made up for fun.
Anyone with me? Just ping me on russ AT russmiles DOT com or on twitter @russmiles
