Learning UML 2.0 hits production
After what seems like one of the toughest writing cycles I've ever been through, Learning UML 2.0 went finally into production yesterday. The content is done and now, with a few edits during the production process, the book is all set to be in the shops by the middle of the year.
Learning UML 2.0 has been one of the toughest books I've ever had to write. My first book, AspectJ Cookbook, was about a subject that is still fairly niche and so feedback during tech review was light (ok, non-existent). Not so for Learning UML 2.0, whose technical review stages had the likes of Richard Mark Soley and Neil Pitman gunning for the book. During the tech review process late last year we were hit with the pain we duly deserved, butnow it's clear that the whole exercise really helped to make the book that much better.
After busting a gut on the book's content over the xmas and new year period, and thanks in no small measure to Corinne for giving the grammar the thorough hammering it needed, the book was in much better shape for the second round of tech reviews. This round helped to refine the content and produce the book that just went through into production. Now it's time to sit back and enjoy the fact that I have a new animal front cover on its way.... hopefully not a marmoset like last time (the rat of the monkey community was one description I found).
Oh, and when I say sit back and relax, I mean "Finish my masters degree and begin writing book 3" ...
