A place to share some code - Code Monkey
Today I launched, along with Sharp Monkey, the Code Monkey wiki where anyone can post up, edit and generally provide everything from code snippets, idioms and links to full articles and tutorials.
Basically the ideas behind Code Monkey is to come up with a wiki that is as useful for finding code examples as Wikipedia is for finding general knowledge. Not boxed into one specific language or environment , this wiki is going to be a free-for-all enterprise that hopefully will have everything you need to answer your urgent coding questions. And best of all, it's going to be free (as in beer and as in freedom).
It's in its very early days at the moment, doesn't even have a logo although you can put yourself forward for one, but with a bit of luck and given some time this site could become a great resource. Kinda like the personal wiki I keep for my own notes on coding, except this way everyone gets the benefit and it's not just my notes!
Other features coming soon include the ability to take a snapshot for the wiki, updated at regular intervals, for running on your own machines in those annoying cases when you don't have network connectivity but you really want to get some hacking done. The system is currently based on MediaWiki so if you're already comfortable with installing that then when the snapshots become available all you'll have to do is start another instance and import the database. We're aiming to make the process as simple as possible, even automated should you so choose.
