Head First Software Development

Picture
Head First Software Development was Russ Mile's last (to date) printed book.

Some aspects of this book are a little out of date now in terms of own practices, but updates will be posted in Essais and tagged with Head First Software Development for your ease of searching and finding.

Learning UML 2.0

Here is Russ Miles's own review of the book:

"It might sound like a confessions, but yes I wrote a book on UML. But that wasn't my biggest crime! Bear with me…

My biggest crime was not making the statements in the Preface part of the main content. I try to communicate a number of times (ironically when UML is all about clarity of communication) that UML is best used for collaborative design and architectural diagramming, NOT for the abominations of forward/reverse/roundtrip/sideways engineering that the plethora of case tools that haunt the subject would have you believe.

Use this book as a means to quickly and clearly work with others to explore designs and architecture and I'll be a happy author".

Here is Russ Miles's own review of the book:

Picture the scene… it's your first foray into publication. No other member of your family has ever published anything, that you know of, and the excitement is building as your first book has been completed and you're just waiting on the front cover. This isn't just any front cover either, oh no, this is an O'Reilly Animal…

I love this book even though it's quite out of date now unfortunately. The animal on the front? It's got a face and attitude that not even a mother could love".
